The marijuana movement is gaining serious momentum and the annual cannabis event calendar proves it.

Legislation has, as of 2018, extended far beyond the smoker’s paradise of Amsterdam to places like Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Jamaica, Portugal and 30 U.S. states. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the cannabis craze is new, however, because if you were to look at a historical timeline of marijuana, you’d discover how the use of this green plant dates back to A.D. 500!

Due to ongoing scientific research, pot advocates (like Morgan Freeman) supporting the herb, and governments loosening the formerly strict laws surrounding cannabis consumption, distribution and sales, the world has only recently become truly enlightened on the topic of lighting up joints.

It’s not just getting “high” that makes cannabis such a popular natural remedy. Boasting medical properties and cross-breeding potential, the cannabis plant is one of Planet Earth’s most valuable resources and is estimated to bring in $14.5 billion for America’s economy this year.

Annual Cannabis Events to Attend in 2018

With so many 420-friendly events taking place worldwide every single year, the opportunities for engaging in cannabis education, entertainment and shopping are boundless. Below, we highlight 20 of the most eagerly anticipated annual cannabis events worldwide:

  1. High Times Cannabis Cup – Chances are, you’ve heard about this one already, but as a world-renowned cannabis event, it definitely deserves a mention! Locations have since expanded to Colorado, So-Cal and Michigan.

The 3rd annual event took place from February 9-11, but as an annual affair, you have the opportunity to watch presentations and seminars by industry leaders next year, too! This year’s expo featured talks about cannabis for cancer, delivery methods and techniques of dry ice extraction.

  8. Hanfparade – Promoting the legalization of cannabis, Hanfparade 2018 will commence on August 11 in Berlin. It is a high-energy pro-weed march that makes its way through the capital of Germany. Each year, between 10,000-13,000 people participate. Live musicians keep the atmosphere alive at the parade, which kicks off at 10am.

  9. The Emerald ConferenceOf all the cannabis conferences taking place worldwide, this one has to be the most technical-focused. The 4th annual affair runs from February 15-16, 2018 at Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina, San Diego, CA.
