DigiPath Secures Permit to Open Cannabis Testing Lab

DigiPath Inc. [stockquote symbol=DIGP], a life sciences company that creates digital pathology solutions and is entering into the botanical nutraceutical industry, recently announced that it has received approval from the Clark County Commission to operate a botanical nutraceutical and cannabis testing laboratory in Las Vegas, Nevada, with final approval possible within the next few months.
“This is an important milestone for doctors, care-givers, and especially seriously ill patients who can clearly benefit from all-natural cannabis,” said DigiPath Labs President Todd Denkin. “We are also creating new jobs and tax revenue for the state and local governments [via the opening of the new laboratory].”
The company plans to open a botanical and cannabis testing lab on Cameron Street in Clark County, Las Vegas, Nevada, marking its expansion into new lines of business associated with the research, development, licensing, and operation of botanical and nutraceutical products and services. Management aims to become a standard for medical cannabis testing and safety screening in North America.
“Patient health in our priority,” said DigiPath Labs Scientific Director Dr. Cindy Orser. “Adhering to standardized, rigorous analytical techniques, DigiPath Labs will analyze both the dried plant material as well as byproducts form the cannabis plant for both potency and contaminants … We not only make sure your medicine is safe, we also ensure it’s the right type of medicine for your needs.”
Cannabis plants can have a number of harmful toxins associated with them, including solvents, pesticides, mold, heavy metals, organic toxins, microbial contaminants, and more. In addition to testing for these substances, the company aims to test for quality, potency, and cannabinoid and terpene profiles, which are used to determine its suitability for treating specific ailments.
