Cannabix Prepares to Advance Breathalyzer to Beta Stage

Cannabix Technologies Inc. [stockquote symbol=BLOZF], developer of a hand-held marijuana breathalyzer for law enforcement and the workplace, recently announced that it has made substantial progress advancing its technology from the drawing board through the Alpha stage and plans to continue advancing the product to Beta stage where it will be used by third parties in order to evaluate its effectiveness in the field.
“I am proud of the manner in which we have taken an academic concept on breath testing for THC to our current Alpha prototype stage,” said Cannabix Technologies Inc. President Kal Malhi. “We have achieved this development in a very fiscally responsible manner and have been accountable to our shareholders along each step of the way … Cannabix is well funded to achieve its objectives and is progressing steadily.”
The Alpha prototype is primarily used for testing purposes to help establish key features and define the direction of future iterations by eliminating unnecessary artifacts early in the process. For example, the Alpha version now uses spit separation technology to avoid contamination of THC breath samples collected for analysis. The company also continues to refine the sensitivity and modify certain components to improve performance.
Testing with medical marijuana users has progressed well, according to management, while the team is working to advance the product to a Beta prototype stage as soon as possible. In the Beta stage, the company plans to begin testing with third parties, such as law enforcement agencies or workplaces, in order to prove that the technology is prepared for real use in the field and address any other customer-related concerns.
