Cannabis Science Conference West Returns for Successful Fourth Year
September 11th, 2019
The cannabis industry may still be in its infancy, but several key conferences and events have already cemented their places in the “must attend” category for professionals in the space. One such show is the Cannabis Science Conference (CSC), which recently held its 4th annual west coast edition at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. A meeting of the top minds from across the marijuana marketplace, the CSC is well-known for attracting celebrities, medical professionals, scientists, thought leaders, and executives alike.
“Our 2019 Cannabis Science Conference West was a huge success!” exclaimed CSC Founder, President, and CEO Josh Crossney. “We’re extremely grateful for the support we receive year after year from our speakers, attendees, sponsors, exhibitors and media partners. Without them, none of this would be possible.”
This year’s event attracted thousands of attendees representing 17 countries seeking out the latest cutting-edge cannabis research and news from the experts themselves.
Attendees were especially moved by Olivia Newton-John and Amazon John Easterling’s plenary address on Thursday entitled “Plant Medicine: A Personal Healing Journey”.
“Cannabis weaned me off Morphine,” Newton-John told the crowd. The singer and actress has been an outspoken proponent of medical marijuana and botanical treatments after utilizing it in her battle against cancer.
“It has been an honor getting to know Olivia, John and their family over the past few years,” Crossney adds. “They really are two of the most caring, loving people I’ve ever met. I’m forever grateful for their friendship and for supporting the show.”
Another highlight session was the “Professional Athletes for Cannabis” panel that featured Marvin Washington (NFL), Cliff Robinson (NBA), Riley Cote (NHL), and Anna Symonds (WPL Rugby), with Dr. Sue Sisley acting as moderator. This panel covered the importance of cannabis being an option in professional sports as opposed to dangerous opiates and other pharmaceuticals. Attendees also heard from other industry leading keynote speakers like Dr. Ethan Russo, Dr. Dustin Sulak, Dr. Markus Roggen and Jeff Lowenfels, just to name a few.
“This is not the typical cannabis conference/trade show I’m accustomed to as it was loaded with PhD’s, scientists, researchers and professional wellness advocates that are sharing information to continue this cannabis freedom movement,” exclaimed speaker Brian Rice, Director of Research and Development at Boveda, makers of two-way humidity control technology. “Everything and everyone there seemed 100% focused on scientific topics – genetics, the endocannabinoid system, and human safety to name a few.”
Next, it’s all eyes on Maryland as Cannabis Science Conference East returns April 6th – 8th at the Baltimore Convention Center. This flagship show promises to be bigger and better than ever as the nation prepares for broader legalization, more clinical research, and a bevy of investment dollars that continues to flow. Reserve your tickets here – CFN Media will bring you more coverage on this top event so stay tuned!
