Premium Cannabis Shop Opens in Seattle

The Diego Pellicer cannabis retail store is opening in Seattle on October 7 at 2215 Fourth Ave. S., after passing its final inspection at the end of September. Unlike a traditional headshop, the 3,300 square foot store is modeled after an upscale jewelry store with granite floors, Spanish tile, and large chandeliers. The store provides everything you’d typically find in a headshop, as well as branded bongs, grinders, and vaporizers, and higher end certified marijuana.

Investors can gain exposure to the retail location through Diego Pellicer Worldwide Inc. [stockquote symbol=DPWW], a publicly-traded company that essentially serves as a landlord for the time being. If cannabis is legalized on a federal level, the company has the right to acquire the headshop – and future headshops operating under similar arrangements – and become a leading pure play in the cannabis retail industry.
The company plans to open a second store in Denver in November, while expanding into other states over the coming years. Management hopes to leverage its experience in Seattle to open future stores at a much more rapid pace.
Investors may want to pay close attention to these stores as it could translate to a premier brand opportunity if national legalization takes hold.
