Pot d’Huile Offers Chefs a Precision Dose of THC

The cannabis edibles industry has been long characterized by confectionary products that essentially liquefy sugar, chocolate or gelatin and blend it with cannabis oil. Often times, the cannabis oil is extracted from shake, which is what’s left over after cannabis flower has been trimmed. The problem with these edibles is that uneven blending of cannabis oil makes precision dosing difficult and shake doesn’t provide the flavor quality that chefs are seeking.
Pot d’Huile aims to solve these problems with its flavor-neutral cannabis-infused olive oil that combines high-quality olive oil with whole-plant cannabis oils. With a 1mg THC per 1mL olive oil concentration, chefs can ensure precision dosing when creating innovative dishes for medical marijuana patients.
With imminent adult use in California, the company hopes to open up the edibles market to food professionals, using the infused olive oil for private catered events or to create freshly made dispensary goods.
CFN Media recently interviewed co-founder John Bradbury at the Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition this year, where he discussed the company’s approach and success following its recent launch.
Along with John Bradbury, founders include Yannick Crespo, a gourmand with a background in finance, and Allison Comiso Bordsen, a biochemist and molecular biologist. The founders wanted to create a luxury product that was dosage-specific, flavor-neutral, and offered the full scope of cannabis terpenes, which work synergistically with THC in providing medicinal benefits. After two years of R&D, the company recently launched its first products.
During its first month, the company sold 50 bottles through a single dispensary. Pot d’Huile was offered the opportunity to provide the cooking medium for the High Times Cooking Competition in Sonoma. Pot d’Huile has received an enthusiastic response from chefs, private event caterers, and food press (including: Bon Appétit; Food & Wine; Food Republic; Delish) which is a testament to the high quality of the product and the potential demand. Currently, the products can be purchased at Spark in San Francisco or through its website with a California MMJ card and state identification.
The product can be used by both home chefs and professionals in a variety of baked goods, soups, braises, and stews. In addition, home chefs can use it in salad dressings, hummus, cakes, and cookies as long as the temperature remains below 314 degrees Fahrenheit – the temperature at which THC burns off and the benefits are diminished.
