DigiPath Inc. In the video, Mr. Denkin provides GFarmaTV with a tour of its Las Vegas facility and explains how it partners with growers to test cannabis in batches.
According to GreenWave Advisors, the cannabis testing industry is expected to reach $850 million in size by 2020. In the video, DigiPath, Inc., CEO Todd Denkin offers an inside look at the cutting-edge cannabis testing facility in Las Vegas.
“It was exciting to have the GFarmaTV crew tour the DigiPath Labs facility,” says Denkin. “We put a lot of work into designing a state-of-the-art cannabis testing lab that provides reliable results, and it’s fun to let our patients, growers, and anyone who’s curious take a look at how we operate.”
In the video, Denkin explains how DigiPath Labs partners with growers to test medicinal cannabis in five-pound batches. He explains that the technicians perform a visual inspection and test for moisture, cannabinoid and terpenoid profiles, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiological contamination. He also notes that DigiPath Labs tests oils, concentrates, shatters, and edibles.
The video also shows an increasingly popular DigiPath Labs offering: chemo profiling. This DNA testing method creates a digital representation of a particular strain, giving growers a way to distinguish and protect their specialized strains.
“Patents don’t work and trademarks don’t work for marijuana,” Denkin explains in the video, “but chemo profiling does work. So it is a good way to protect your strain simply by giving it a digital stamp, on a server, with a time and the exact profile.”
