Mobile apps are used for everything from keeping up with friends to making online purchases these days. With the legalization of medical and recreational cannabis in several states, many users have turned to cannabis apps to find strains and dispensaries. WeedMaps, MassRoots, and Leafly have quickly become staples on the stoner’s smartphone, but there are many other apps that cannabis enthusiasts may also want to consider downloading.

WeedMaps

weedmaps

Weedmaps is a community where medical marijuana patients can connect with other patients in their region to discuss and review local cannabis coops, dispensaries, doctors, and delivery services. The service started off as the cannabis industry’s version of Yelp and expanded to include a deals section that’s similar to Groupon. Looking ahead, the company has plans to introduce an online shop that could make it even easier to access marijuana.

MassRoots

massroots

MassRoots is a social network that connects cannabis enthusiasts in a 420-friendly community where like-minded people can freely share their experiences. The service is often considered to be the “Facebook of cannabis” with the added ability to keep up with dispensaries and track deals in the space. With its friendly and open user base, the app is a great way to meet likeminded individuals in any place where the drug has been legalized.

Leafly

leafly

Leafly is a leading resource for information about cannabis strains. With thousands of marijuana strains in its database, users can analyze the effects of these strains and find nearby dispensaries that carry them for medical or recreational usage. Users can review these strains based on their desired effects and flavors and the app aggregates this data into highly-useful information that can help people obtain the experiences they’re looking for.

MyDx

mydx

MyDx – short for My Diagnostic – is focused on helping consumers analyze the cannabis that they consume. While the app has a companion device, users can also use the standalone app to record their favorite strains and see what effects they might have for users. The app is similar in some ways to Leafly, but the MyDx team’s extensive chemistry know-how provides a more detailed chemical analysis of the cannabinoids present in given strains.

The MyDx analyzer takes the app a step further by making it easy to analyze a specific cannabis sample for things like THC and CBD content. By leveraging its expertise in chemical analysis, the company’s technology “smells” a cannabis sample to determine these components with an increasing level of accuracy. The device is available for $699 and includes everything you need to get a Total Canna Profile™ of cannabinoid and terpene content.

PotBot

PotBot is a medical marijuana recommendation engine that guides patients to the appropriate cannabinoid levels, medical cannabis strains, and consumption methods for specific ailments. Once a personalized recommendation is in place, the app connects patients with nearby dispensaries and sets up an appointment. The app employs a robust database of strains that are aggregated, compiled, and curated, as well as validated through an EEG/EKG.

The company is a subsidiary of PotBiotics Inc., which specializes in developing cannabis-focused technologies for everyone from cultivators to consumers.

Cannacopia

cannacopia

Cannacopia solves the confusion of what cannabis strains to purchase and where to purchase them from. For instance, users can search for strains that make them feel energetic, rejuvenated, relaxed, or sleepy, while filtering for tastes that range from sweet to spicy. The app even shows users a picture of each strain to compare what’s available at a dispensary to the actual strain that’s photographed within the app.

doobster

Doobster is a HIPPA-compliant mobile app and platform that enables medical marijuana patients and adult recreational users to order products from their smartphone or tablet. With 4-tap access to a product of their choice from a dispensary of their choice, these users can have the drug delivered in minutes by vetted drivers. The app also provides a pick-up option for those simply looking to avoid the long lines at dispensaries.
